Week of February 12th-16th

Curriculum News

As we continue with our unit of “A Long Journey to Freedom”, we will be taking a look at several different stories that focus on different stages in our country’s history.  One story will deal with the results of the Emancipation Proclamation, another will give us the opportunity to look at the story of Ruby Bridges, while the final one will help us gain an even greater level of respect for Rosa Parks.  This will help us tie up our unit and see exactly where we are today with this long and winding road to freedom.   As the Olympics continue, we will also be learning a bit more about some of the events and will be monitoring the results as they start to come in.

During our Science time we will continue to look at the effects of pollution on all of Earth’s habitats.  In Math, we will turn our focus to measurement as we introduce and practice the very important skill of measuring length and area of shapes and other objects around us.
