Week of March 25th-29th

Curriculum News

This week will continue with our discussion of folktales and fairytales. This week we will be looking a variety of stories from around the world.  Some of the stories will be ones that have been told for many years throughout the continents of Africa and Asia.    Students will get a chance to compare stories and see how they are alike and how they differ from one another.   This will allow us to continue our work with cause and effect to help our students work on their comprehension of stories which will ultimately lead to them becoming stronger readers!

During our Science time, students will be focusing on the outer planets found in our solar system.  Students will also be continuing to work on the concepts of goods and services.  On Monday (weather permitting) our students will be getting the opportunity to see first-hand some of the services offered right here in our community.  Students will be talking a short walking tour to see some of these places in person.  We will be leaving the elementary building at about 12:30 and should be back by around 1:00!  We certainly hope that the weather cooperates!

In Math, we will be continuing with our work with counting money.  They will be working a bit more with counting mixed coins so once again we encourage you to take any opportunities that you can to have your child practice at home with some real coins.  Seize any opportunity possible to make learning more fun and like real-life situations!
